MEET OUR GENERAL MANAGER, BETH

Born and raised in Santa Ynez, Beth moved to Santa Barbara in 2000. In ‘01 she started her journey in coffee at Mesa Coffee, evolving into Good Cup, and then ultimately as General Manager at Lighthouse Coffee, together with current owner Chris Chiarappa.

The best part of her job, beyond making awesome coffee, is connecting with our guests. By building real relationships with personable people, Beth gets to watch our community grow every day.

With a busy lifestyle as a mother-of-two, her daughter and son keep Beth on her toes. It’s amazing to see the world through the eyes of my children, Beth says, and constantly be reminded of the excitement and innovation all around us. A favorite pastime of the three is watching sunset at the beach.

Her phenomenal team of skilled baristas keeps her young too. Showing up with a positive attitude every day, dedicated and loyal, they share a special bond and camaraderie. Beth loves to watch them be their best and make Lighthouse the great community it has become over the years.

Beth is an avid movie-buff and you might find her reciting lines while cooking or baking, after a beautiful day in nature.

MEET OUR HEAD ROASTER, JASON

Jason has been in the coffee industry for over 13 years. Starting in San Francisco in 2009, working first at Ritual Coffee Roasters before heading over to Sightglass Coffee Roasters, both of whom have established themselves in the Bay Area as titans of the third wave coffee scene.

In his late twenties and early thirties Jason took a few years to travel, working at coffee shops across the U.S. and abroad. From Toronto to New York, Denver and London, he honed his new craft. It wasn’t until 2019 that he came back to Santa Barbara and worked as a partner to open a local espresso bar. This is where he found his love of roasting and eventually became the Head Roaster for Low Pigeon. What started out as just a day job in San Francisco quickly became a lifelong passion.

As an artist, Jason saw a parallel between the whole coffee operation and the art. He was drawn to the process behind a good cup of coffee. How every person in this process is important, from the farmer who grows the beans, to the roaster who uses a unique formula extracting the flavor profile, and the barista who turns it into the drink we enjoy. Each an artist, using their own brush and technique to create a masterpiece together. To Jason, and as he sees it to all of us in this craft, coffee isn’t just a means to wake you up in the morning, it’s an artform.

Now working as the Head Roaster for Lighthouse Coffee Roasters, Jason is proud to bring the skills he has learned over the last decade to our customers, creating a unique and enjoyable coffee experience. With his lighthearted, fun approach and a good sense of humor Jason makes great coffee accessible to everyone.
